The Anchorage Curling Club is one of two dedicated curling facilities in the state of Alaska, the other located 350+ miles north in Fairbanks and operated by the Fairbanks Curling Club. In the United States there are only four other dedicated curling facilities located west of the Rockies (Evergreen Curling Club in Portland, OR; Granite Curling Club in Seattle, WA; Coyotes Curling Club in Tempe, AZ; and the Southern California Curling Center in Los Angeles, CA).
NON-PROFIT STATUS & MISSION STATEMENT
We are a non-profit organization, registered as a 501(c)(7) Social and Recreation Club. Our purpose is to foster and promote the sport and culture of curling with the following objectives:
- To promote and foster amateur competition in the sport of curling on a local, regional, national, and international level;
- To attract, support, and train athletes interested in amateur curling competition on a local, regional, national, and international basis; and
- To provide programs designed to educate interested persons about the sport of curling, especially local youth.
Our curling season typically starts in October and ends in early April. To accomplish our objectives we offer leagues five days a week, public learn to curl events, private club rentals, and host multiple bonspiels.
The Alaska Curling Association (ACA) is one of ten regions in the United States and represents the two clubs currently in the state of Alaska. ACA manages the state playdowns for the United States Curling Association (USCA).
The USCA, doing business as USA Curling, is the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of curling. The association is headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota.
