Bonspiels are events that are separate from both regularly scheduled league play and/or play-downs, and are usually played over a weekend.

Many people will travel to other clubs to play in a variety of events. Bonspiels can have quite a variety of formats - from totally fun and games to totally serious, with most being in between. Curlers playing in bonspiels are vying for trophies and/or prizes if they place well, but for many, the camaraderie and competition with fellow curlers is the real reason to play in bonspiels.

Fun Spiels fall into the category of fun, and lots of it. This is a great opportunity for new curlers to get their feet wet outside of leagues. There will sometimes be unusual game/event formats, with a typical game being 6-8 ends.

Bonspiels will usually follow a standard game format, with the event being a round-robin or elimination event. Games will typically be 8 ends.

Cash Spiels are typically of a fairly high competition level. Many of the teams that enter these events are gaining more high caliber ice time in preparation for play-down competition. Cash Spiels are 10 ends.
